What's The Difference Between Pressure Washing And Soft Washing?

You may be familiar with the concept of pressure washing, but some homeowners may have never heard of the concept of soft washing. Basic pressure washing involves a pressure washing machine that uses high water pressure to blast away hardened dirt and grime. For certain materials, such as concrete or pavers, pressure washing is a must to remove the years of accumulated gunk that has seeped past the surface.

However, for more delicate surfaces, such as vinyl and shingles, if you use too high of water pressure, you risk causing damage. You'll want a more gentle strategy, known as soft washing.

Soft washing uses low water pressure combined with special, eco-friendly detergents to remove built-up grime without harming the surfaces underneath.

How Often Should I Get My House Washed?

It's important for homeowners to have their residences completely washed from top to bottom at least twice a year. During that time, grime and other foreign bodies can accumulate on your roof, your siding, your walkways, and more. To prevent these growths from taking over, you want to schedule a bi-annual house washing to keep everything nice and clean.

Is That Black Stuff On My Roof Really Not Dirt?

Your roof can become home to all kinds of bacteria and grime over time. However, in some instances, you might start to notice a black substance taking over. You may think this is dirt, but it's actually most likely a special type of algae that can eat away at the limestone found in your shingles. If you don't remove these algae quickly, you can expect costly roof repairs in your future. A good soft wash can easily wipe out these algae and other unwanted guests that have settled in on your home.
